Luminous Pirks

They also had it in a spray but I\'d prefer to get a few good thick cotes on with a brush. Let you know how it works. Should be pretty tough hopefully.

Aye Mike, Helps to stop them rusting while they are tangled on the wreck. ;)

Found this stuff today at No Frills at Longbenton, £1.49 for a 400ml tin of spray. They had all colours but just bought silver and lumni orange to try them.. They are made by Humbrol so shouldn\'t be to bad. Let you know how they go.

Did a bit of shopping today myself Marc:

I decided to use a white basepaint on all the pirks to make the top colours as bright as possible. The colours are fluoro orange, chrome and LUMINOUS. The luminous (and all the others) was from Focus DIY, and is intended as a stencil paint. To keep it on I got a clear outdoor varnish. Interestingly it says you can mix it with glitter and fluorescent paint. I bet this is worth a go. The luminous paint was only about £3.50 and should easily cover 2 or 3 pirks. :D

To clarify that (as I made a bit of a pigs ear of it above) the luminous paint can be mixed with fluorescent and glitter. Suppose it would be tricky mixing the spray varnish with anything anyway!

Mike,

When I used the plasticote ( on to a base coat ) I experimented with a few first and found the spray nozzle gets blocked VERY easy . Might be worth spraying a big batch in a one\'er .

I\'ve found when using sprays to put them into a bowl of warmish water first, It helps the spray to come out and gives a more even finish, also makes the paint go a bit further to. After spraying one or two pirks hold the can upside down and give it a little blast, it then blows the paint out of the nozzel buy just using the gas.

hold on hold on ........ have we established that the only way to catch fish is with luminous pirks LOL o lOL :) :) :) , is it mandatory for our comps :)
hahahahahahah Dave your words of wisdom are coming over really well, do you know anything about painting life belts? maybe it`ll inspire others ... :) ooops

ps I target blind fish, then they cant see if I`ve painted the pirk or not ..... well thats the theory ............

Mike, I`m sure dave will explain the importance of painting in great detail (especially life belts) :) :) :)

Dave, with your record of painting things (things that are round or even things that go around) maybe you should hold on the advice a little ........................ :) :) :) nah on second thoughts only kidding , go for it mate, ps i`ll have a green bacon sarnie next time :) luminous if possible
