Hi folks wanting to do more lure fishing but i have't got that much experiance bar tossing in daylights for the mackerel. Just looking for some tips and places to fish round the NE preferably suinderland and surrounding areas.

Thankyou to all the replies in advance.

Well apart from the piers mate try The Leas at South Shields, had a few fish from the various marks around there across the summer to various spinners. If your new to lure fishing though I would probs stick to the piers to learn your trade before trying any of the other rock marks coz it can get a bit expensive buying spinners if you start losing a lot lol. Shields pier, try the small wall at the end on a flooding tide (best once the wash comes through - where the river water and sea water mix), keep the spinner fairly close in, maybe less than 15-20yds and move it up and down the water column, I have had Maccy, Coalies, Pollock, Launce and a SMALL codling over the summer on this spot, another spot is fishing the blocks on the right hand seaward side, always some nice pollock hooked across the summer to people spinning across that way ;) Not tried lures at any of the Sunderland piers but im guessing it would be similar if you know that marks. Hope that helps mate, :D

if your just after makky, i would definatley advise you go to walkworth peir for the last 3 hours of the flood and 1 over. Get used to feeling how the lures perform in the water, its all sand so you can't get snagged. See for polack the lures have to be fished tight to the bottom, which without practice at places like walkworth is an expensive habbit. But once used to it the tackle losses are minimalised :D

Dean.
