No takers to go fishing today so I went by myself . late start for me 12 noon out of hartlepool. Tried a 4 mile wreck and tried pirk with a macky spinner on the business end. First drop bang! a good fish on, but dropped off. let it go down bang another good fish only to drop off again and let it down once more and managed to get it this time but only about 3lb. Tried another wreck and got another 5 cod all between 5-7lb. got them on pirk with a shad connected directly to it. Called it a day at around 2.30pm. not a bad few hours.

Well done , did they go for the shad or pirk mostly ?

that's all I used, a pirk with either a macky spinner attached to the bottom of the pirk and a hook attached to the spinner. Or a shad to the bottom of the pirk via a strong clip or a split ring. For some reason they go mad if there is a spinner on the pirk, give it a go and lets know how you get on. I used this last year and done very well.

Well worth the trip on your own, paid off. I remember you saying about the spinner on the pirk once before, so it obveously works
