maali catch report 18/05/17

A spur of the moment short trip out of h'pool with the Brother in law. First wreck no signs of life, second one produced a nice fresh cod falling to shad. We stayed on the wreck for the remainder of the trip and called time at 1330pm. I ended up with 7 decent cod and a ling which I returned. all fish fell to shad.

summer has begun

I did my first wrecking of 2017 (incredible really how late!)

we got 10 ling and a cod from 2 wrecks at the 6-7 nm range.

I struggle to explain why we got so many ling in May, but I really enjoyed fresh ling fried with soy sauce in a Wok for tea.

great fishing m8, been a long time since i was down that way, used to fish aboard tj gannett. look forward to your next report.

you must be just unlucky or lucky to find so many ling. I got one yesterday on a blue shad no bait. You would normally get them if you had Mackie on. I prefer cod.
