Mackerel hot spots

ok. we were gona go there today but decided not to because we heard it wasnt that good down there at this time of year.

What types of rigs and baits will be most suitable for this?
thanks

I generally use daylites or feathers with a fairly heavy spinner on the end ,I know people float fish for them as well ,I love float fishing but not tried it around the North East .
Only problem with fishing for mackerel on a pier is that there are a few idiots about so watch your back .

i havent done float fishing of th pier before so i will give that a try.
i normally use daylights. i have tried them today but nothink was biting.

You couldn\'t have fished Whitley pipe today as the tides were wrong mate. A word of warning though, only fish it on a flat sea as if it is rough you won\'t be on it long.

Jim.

It is very dangerous if there is a sea running as it is not very high above the sea and you will get washed straight off mate.

If you are going to fish a new mark and the sea is rough always get some info first. It could save your life.

Jim

There is a mark at the south end of Blyth beach at Seaton Sluice called The Sumps. I have fished it dozens of times. The sea was running one night last year and I stood and watched for about ten minutes before I went on. Just after I got on Two waves came over and gave me the biggest fright of my life. It nearly got me. Always pays to fish the rock edges with friends, better safe than sorry.

Have a look down the left hand side of this page and you will see \"Original Site\", Click on that and you will sea \"Maps\". Click on that and it will show you some good local marks. ;)

Jim.

so u were lucky then.
i normally go to roker pier and when the sea is bad the waves go straight over the lighthouse and they have to close the pier of.

il av a look at the maps now
thanks
