They look abit big hooked for mackerel daylights and also they often come in 4 and cod ones in three's.

The local tackle shops do a wide range from about 60p upto £1.50 a set. I always go for white or silver but never buy them just make my own out of white washing line thou prob costs me more than if i was to buy in the shop but not as much fun :)

never thought about making them out of washing line will give it a go Richy.
PS McDonald's straws are also quite good.

cut the straw to the length required about 3 inches, make a hook snood using a 2.0 hook , i leave about 12 inches of 30lbs line on the hook, then thread the line through the straw and pull it right through so the hook shank goes inside the straw leaving only the curve of the hook showing out of the end of the straw, at the other end of the straw thread a large colorful bead on to the line so it sits nicely onto the hollow of the line end of the straw, next put a crimp onto the line and take it right up to the bead , make sure only the hook curve is showing at one end and the bead is sitting tightly at the other end then squash your crimp into place and there you have it ,tie 3or 4 of these straws to your main rig line and away you go, and they really do work.

tie them on to your rig exactly the same way as the shop bought day-lites and fish with them in the same way on a light spinning rod with a 2 oz lead.caught loads of macky on them ,the Americans use them a lot when fishing for Spanish mackerel off Florida

tie the straws onto your rig exactly like the day lite rigs you buy from the tackle shop, use a light spinning rod and a 1or 2 oz lead,i have caught loads of mackerel on them ,the American anglers use them to catch Spanish mackerel off the Florida coast, people always ask me where i bought them ,when i say i got them with a coke from mcdonalds[i always ask for a few extra straws]i do get a few blank looks.
