When do the macky usually start turning up again?

got some lush ideas for salted mackerel that I'm itching to try out....

From Shileds pier, May the 24th is the soonest i have caught them and Oct the 11th was the latest. They tend to hit Roker pier about a week before they hit Shields, if we get a run of settled weather then they will be in May if not and we get lots of rain and NE seas i have known them not turn up until late July.
