lads just watched something last night on itv1 called all at sea they where in cornwall 1 mile from the shore and they where catching mackey like mad popping up every where they didnt even know what they where doing and they where catching it aswell on daylights just shows it doesnt take much to get those little buggers lol
so im guessing it wont be long now ehh lads good luck people

They coulb be in the end of this month provided the weather is good and the sea stays calm. it wouldnt be uncommon to get the odd lone one now, but its a longshot:):yltype:

not fond of eating them, but they make great bait

lovely if you turn up the heat to 200 on oven gas mark 6 then wrap up like a bag out of foil then gut top tail fish then fish in foil add little water as stock then bit salt, pepper little bit chive bit lemon juice leave about 10 -15 mins in oven take out carefull the foil will be hot fillet it then the bone will just bascically just pull out easily then after that what you dont eat chuck in the freezer for the winter sessions catch coulple of nice cod lol
and great fun using light gear but to fill up freezer use daylights

A used to use daylites but thort i was a bit easy, tend to use spinners now or daylite rigs with only two or three hooks and light gear... Great fun:D

Wat i like too do is after dispatching them i like to leave them for a while (about 30mins) to drain the blood from them b4 filliting them and putting them into a coolbag or carrier bag in the shade and them take them home. saves making a mess in the house and keeps the fillets in better condition;)

mind u the only problem with mackerel is that it bring all th F$%K heads to the pier and there beer and wine bottles all over, and they all have to cast over your line:mad::D

nice never thought of that but if you gut them at home you can then keep all the guts and use as a bait aswell tends to work as a scent trail lol
and if you do that you might just end up with all the sea gulls chasing you home lol
