anyone heard of them in properly there have been pulled in in a few places but not in masses heading down to the pier (roker) at the weekend and the weekend with the old man just people keep me posted on where they are thanks guys

Still too early at the min mate. Odd ones are being reported here and there but.....
Think the sea's forecast to lift towards the end of the week so it'll push the few that were in back out ;)

yeah i thought that they wou;d be in by the end of the week with the weather starting to shape up a bit you know so roughly how many days/ weeks

it is going mod-rough mid week with ne winds, i would not bother going for them from the pier until the 2nd weekend in June.

We have had about 60 from the boat in 4 trips this week 2mile out the closest caught.

by the way is there any chance of catching and reasoniable sized cod around this time of year because me mate says he caught 4 -5lber cod a month ago just off befor you get on s/s

The mackerel are floating about in one's and two's, but this change in weather will shove them back out again.

I had 1 last night bang in between low and high tide, fought quite hard and tasted nice with some lemon and butter in the frying pan.

Me and my mate had over 20 assorted coalies and small pollack to about 9 inches long, sometimes 3 or 4 on at a time.

We only went out for a bit of sport fishing so the mackerel was a bonus.

Give it until mid june or even the Plate festival and then hit the piers with a vengeance.

A few boats go out from 1st June onwards for evening Mackerel shouts, doesn't cost a lot to out but take plenty of feathers/ lures and a decent rod.

Down on Shields beach last night with the dog and there was loads of 4"-5" sandeels in the water, the gulls were sitting on the sandbank in the middle of the beach feeding on them.

I think I might go out looking for them, they can't be more than a couple miles out now, so an experienced skipper should be to find them, just need to find a charter to out after them now. :)

Still a wad of coalies and sandeels off Blyth pier the other day, coalies in the harbour down the side, nothing of real size but good to get some fresh air.
