Mackerel

If you only have a normal freezer, then it's best to fillet them for shore fishing, each fillet individually wrapped in cling film, but if you are wanting them whole, then cut the tails off and gut them, and wrap tightly in cling film and put them into the freezer loosely spread about to hasten the freezing process, also switching the freezer on to fast freeze, or its highest setting.

I wrap the fillets in a sheet of kitchen roll before freezing in a freezer bag. Normally put couple of fillets in same bag. When i take a bag or two fishing in the summer i have a small cooler bag from my sons old school lunch bag. Its foil backed. I put the defrosted bag of fillets in here with a plastic ice block.
Ideal in warmer weather. You can cut thin strips of mackeral from the fillets and keep them cool. Soon as they go warm it goes to mush.

put a little salt on each fillet place two fillets in an air tight bag submerse the bag in a bucket of water to expell the air in the bag seal bag freeze down works a treat
