fished middleton pier at hartlepool today blanked, but was swamped by mackie bashers.... roll on the winter when they all hibernate

If we keep this current warm, settled spell the Mackerel will still be around for another few weeks yet. I caught most of mine back end of September last year... (mainly because I don't fish for them and tend to stay away from the piers during the height of summer)
 
don't try in Sunderland then as there a nice seal who is living close to piers and i tell you he was unhappy when we ankerd down the other week kept coming at us lol so we moved in case he or she had little ones and protecting area. when moved no bother and caught cod :)

Hi Dave its always the same year in year out not really fishermen just Mackie bashers and they know no better. Soon be gone and all the real fishermen will give it a go. Beaches are always best but usually a good walk. :D

Think it was you I was talking too when I first went on mate, one of the lads
that was float fishing pulled in a nice little codling, me and my mate stayed till
5.30, only had a pin whitie between us.

Slapping your paddle on the water a couple of times tends to frighten them off.
