Mag Elite (green) help

Hi All,

I have noticed recently a problem with my mag elite and was wondering if you could help?

Yesterday I was fishing the river at Ouseburn and when I was bringing in a Flounder of about 1lb my reel was strugling, it kept slipping as if the star drag wasnt tightened.

Ive noticed this a couple of times recently and it appears to have started after a yacht at St Peters dragged my line in which i had to quickly cut off the Abu.

I have stripped my reel down but cant see anything obvious.

Does any one know what I should be looking for or have any ideas please?

look on abu site and get the drawing for your reel and see if you have all your washers in the right order also remove all oil off the drag washers

there are two concave washers that must be set in opposition thereby creating a spring - this creates the pressure on the clutch to enable drive.
you probably put them back flush (this looks right) but prevents them from working. if you still struggle, pop in and see ronnie at ID.

I have the schematic from the box, and I have checked the 2 concave washers, they were in the correct way.

It casts fine and you can only tell when you are reeling in a catch.

Any other ideas or do you think I should drop it into ID?

i would take the drag washers out, spray them with brake / clutch cleaner and then gently dry them out with kitchen paper, i would also give the reel a general service whilst your on.

Make sure you clean your hands so no oil or grease touches the washers, when putting the drag system back together or your work will be for nowt.

as said in previous replie that there no greaso r oil on clutch plates and they are on properly. the problem may be when yacht caught your line it may have pulled line off and damaged the the cutches fibre washers, so take it to ronnie ID fishing brinkburn st, byker he,ll be able to tell sure for sure
