Mag reels

Buying my first mag reel,so would like any advice please.
I use a Penn 525 gs all the time and it is a cracking reel,so i fancy the new 515 mag,does anyone know if they are any good.
I have also seen the Akios reels in magazines etc and was tempted,as they are only £99.99 or would an Abu be a better choice.
7ht mags are too expensive and i have seen guys put them away when it gets dark???? Any advice would be appreciated guys,thanks.

Hi mate,
The Penn 515 reel has not been out for very long, and at the minute you probabally won't get one for under £139.99. I bought mine at a tacle shop for this price (they are the same price on the internet). Basically they are the same as the 525 GS with a much narrower spool, and with an excellent magnetic braking system. It is a bit pricey, but I love mine. They may come down in price eventually, and you may even pick up a good second hand one - though I think this may be a while yet.
In short, if you like the 525 GS then buy one, but remember line capacity will be a lot less than your 525.
If you want the same capacity, then go for a 525 mag or 525 mag extra. Both have the same size spool as the 525 GS, and have magnetic braking systems.
You will be able to pick one of these up second hand as well.

Cheers mate,i dont mind the price as the missus is buying it for chrimbo pressie but wont pay more.Plus line diameter is getting thinner and i wont be using it for tournament casting.Seems like a good buy.thanks
