yes makes it controllable mate a slosh with no breaks will not cast into the wind without thumbing it infact a slosh with no breaks wont cast anywere without thumbing it so most anglers will lose distance and have birds nest with no breaks were as the mag you can set it up slow magnet close to the spool and then let the magnet off as the leads on the way out
