with the words \'act in haste repent at leisure\' ringing in me ears I got seduced by a mariner 50ELPT 4 stroke, any one got any opinions...

it arrived today, going on the boat tomorrow but won\'t get near the water till its been trailered nearly 400 miles to northwest scotland... on a new trailer I\'ve never launched/recovered from, on a boat I\'ve never launched/recovered! (was gonna ask to borrow the RQ crane for a fortnight, but think it might work out a tad pricey)

nervous me, never!

I guess what I\'m hoping someone is going to say is, best engine in the world, fart in the air filter and it\'ll run for an hour, and it\'ll clean the boat form me when i\'m asleep

Mark\'s head nearly got squished like a big, hairy, wrinkly melon. I was there. And if that strop had slipped, I\'d have been even later back to work. Saw Volante out of the water as well, what a lovely boat.

Hi Mark, Same engine as I have....superb bit of gear. Great on Fuel, and VERY quiet. starts at the first turn every time too, and will tick over all day. It has the Bigfoot gearbox, so has a wee bit more go. Not as much speed as my old Evinrude, but that was when I could get it started....

BTW,where are/did you go fishing ??? we could have met up ???. I fish the west coast mostly...next time maybe !!!!! :D

it lives in the royal quays mostly (north shields) but is on its way to ardnamurchan tomorrow for 2 or maybe 3 weeks, be fishing loch sunart, sound of mull, lower sound of sleat... maybe out towards the cairns of coll

does seem very quiet, wasn\'t that happy on starting first turn though initially, hopefully thats down to the fact that is was laid down for a few days in transit, hopefully that blow out when it gets a run.

debating wether to put some fins on it or not, might take em with me see what its like and boly em to compare
