Messrs Elliott & Hardy.....can you help??

I've got quite a few bought CDs of music for use in movie making and they include several different versions of each piece (full version, short version, soundbed version, sting, etc). Trouble is they all sound a bit "dated" now. Busy putting a film together and I'm after a good selection of some stings / audio idents (preferably freeware). You guys know of any good sites where I can get some decent, free downloadable stings / idents ???
Any help appreciated, cheers

ditto the flashkit ting

just stuck a pile of royalty free stuff up here for ya
http://ebgb.net/misc/Earshot.zip

(mr t might like them as well!)

will have a trawl through me bookmarks, not as many freebies out there as there used to be, folks have got wise

anything particular you're after... got jiggly bytes of the fellas in the studio in manc land

scratch that...

well scratched cd it was backed up on! left most it behind when it compressed... off to find another backup now

should be a few hundred megs worth.... but the zip ended up at 30!

TC just use that Ry Cooder album which seems to have slipped into the royalty free bargain bucket sometime ago - every other cheaparse muther****ing documentary maker on the planet seems to STILL :red:

Rant mode off

It's sometimes worth approaching a publishing company to ask permission to use copyrighted music. They do have a bit of leeway in their terms and if it's not for profit and you have a good idea you might get lucky. I do get the feeling this maybe a work thing in which case if you say it's for the council then you're fecked :D

If it's a personal project then just rip off what you want from the Internet, free innit, guerilla style - go gonzo, sounds better when you know you've shamelessly ripped it off from some jaundiced old rock fart full of cash's back catalogue.

I suggest you start by using lots of tunes by The Police

But then your video would be absolutely rubbish even it did show the first genuine picture of an Angel or Ritchie smiling :yltype:

Could you not produce your own TC, you're an axeman! Dead simple stuff could do a great job, you'd be surprised. putting a few of you're own chords over you're own images can be just the job. (Always run it past a mate first though in case it sounds absolutely ****!) If it lends itself to that approach have a think about it. If you need professional quality mikes and digital recording I might be able to help.

Thanks for your help chaps, greatly appreciated.

Not got anything definite in mind, Mark - keeping my options open, but I'll know what I want when I hear it....lol

Aye it's for a work project, Ian....that's why I mentioned "preferably freeware" - tight wads! They won't even let me
replace my scanner after it finally died following 12 years of trouble free service :(

Had considered recording my own stuff using my own gear but decided against it because it's a work project. I think they get pretty good value for money out of using me for
their multimedia corporate stuff (used to pay a company MASSIVE amounts of council tax payers money, 'til they realised
that I could do just as good a job at a fraction of the cost). I'm not giving them what's left of me soul.....lol. Had
this been for a project of my own, then I would def record my own stuff....just adds a bit more of yourself to the final
product. Since just about jacking in the fishing malarky, I've been setting up a little home recording studio ("studio" is a bit of a grand a term for it, really..lol - but it does me :))

As far as the copyright hooo-harr goes......I remember the 1st film I put together for work....the boss (Chief Exec) wanted
to use a particular well known song (and to be fair, it was the perfect choice for the subject of the film). I outlined
the 3 options in using it:

1. I could contact the music publishers and request / pay for the use of the music = expensive

2. A well known local radio station often use slightly "modified" versions of well known tunes as jingles (well - they did
at the time). These tunes are recorded by local artists at a greatly reduced cost than using the original) = less expensive

3. Use the original without obtaining copyright permission and hope for the best (ie we don't get rumbled)

Needless to say, the 3rd option was chosen !
