Fished middle docks today with me dad (pop65) and brother. got there for 2 high tide at 4.20, me dad was straight into the fish from the off small whity first cast.
i blow my reel up first cast which took 40 mins to sort out eventually got it out and baited with fresh crab pulled in a nice plaice which is my first one and new species for me. me brother also pulled in a plaice not long after again fish took on fresh crab.
dad and brother pulled in small codling each then as first light came the coalies were out in numbers and a very good stamp aswell. biggest just under 2lb and smallest just over a pound. we had 9 coalies in total, 2 whiteys 2 small codling and 2 decent plaice.

fresh crab proved why its such a good bait today as all fish were took on on crab. ran out of crab and the bites stopped.
other baits were bluey, prawn, rag and lug.

packed up at about 8 and called it a day. good session with some cracking coalies. stil have fresh crab left so will be out next week :D

pictures to follow later.

Sounds like a busy session well done lads.

There were a few coalies from the pier last night casting into the bay and just before dark i pulled in a little spotty, which went back like a rocket seams a few about.

Nice session mate well done. Never fished middle docks in years, and this only spurs me on to fish it again.

As for your fish, very nice coalies indeed . But, I can definately say that the flatties you caught were most likely flounders mate, as the plaice are still only just starting to show up again on the shore after they've been out at sea spawing, and they very rarely go far upriver (Coble Landing is the furthest up the tyne I'VE SEEN one caught). Flounders have orange spots like Plaice, sometimes quite bright orange, thats why there so easily sometimes mistaken for Plaice. ;)

Still good fishing for you and ya dad and brother, well done. :)

Cheers andy was good session enjoyed it.an sure they were plaice as they were smooth all over when you touch them where as flounder feel rough.me brother checked a few things aswel to make sure they were plaice as he had read up on how to check the difference between flounder and plaice.
As for middle docks its a it of a climb to get on but once on its good fishing think theres only once that we have not caught anything. 2 hours before high tide is best.

just hope nee mare pies hit him in the face PMSL :D

I ya have to watch oot for them pies like, they are randomly fired from somewhere and they strike without warning, usually when someone finally realises something that they couldnt figure out earlier and has such an easy answer (foot in mouth syndrome)! :o ;) :D
