Missy 10th April - Sorry RQ lads

We were heading out past the middleton pier by 7 am yesterday, and what a lovely day it was (sorry).

The first wreck we were going to try had a trawler alongside it, so we moved north to one of our best rough ground marks but that was a minefield of marker bouys so we moved on again to aother wreck, we managed a few codling and a nation of pouting from this and the rest of the day was about the same with one or two codling and a few pouting from most wrecks, never finding a load on one particular wreck.
We tried some other rough ground but it was very slow going and we gave in on it and moved on.

Finall tally for the day was around a dozen codling upto 3 and a half lb and a load of pouting.
Most fish were caught on lug or squid, mainly tipped on lures but flowing traces caught aswell, no joy with shads tho.

So not a great load of fish or any monsters, but it was nice to be out and get a taste of the season ahead, and the little codling can still put up a canny scrap on light gear.
Kept a couple of 3 lbers and put the rest back to swim another day.

A few snaps off my phone ;
