Took a call at work to say the sea was looking good today, so it was decided we would try a couple of hours after work for a bit of macky fishing and maybe the odd codling or two if we were lucky.

My brother came with us today to try his sea legs and it was a good night to come out with flat calm sea and sun shining.

We left the lock just after 6 and were back in just after 9 and what a night we had.

Mackeral galore, but best of all cod galore aswell.

Up untill about 8 we had a fair few cod and the best being 7.5 lb, then I managed a 9 lb er on a shad.
Just my luck I've been waiting for a double aboard Missy for a good while now. Had a fair few a 9.5 lb but never quite double figures.

We continued to catch a few more nice fighting cod but time was getting on so we decided the next would be our last drift. Straight away we were all into cod and to my luck I landed a nice one of 14 lb.
Shame we had to call it a day when the fishing was so good, but at least I ended on a high.

I lost another decent cod at the side of the boat earlier, trying to lift it out without the net, and my dad lost a monster off on the way up. No complaints from me tho I set off back to the marina a very happy chappy.

Shads were doing the business tonight, unlike Sunday.

Some pics off my phone (not the best quality)

cracking report and pics, what type of shad colour, weight, and how you working them?

I think he gets that quite alot Keith lol.

Fish were taking mackeral type and white / redtails shads.
4 and 6 inch were both working.
Just let them hit the bottom and lift up and down gently was all I was doing.
Don't think you have to move them alot as they have a good action anyway in the current.

Spot on Martin  certainly concurrs with many threads now that this season is looking blistering catch wise. Congrats on the big double, it looks a fine clean fish ...

well done
