Has anyone heard of a release date for the new penn mag fancy replacing my mags as they are a bit tired now after years of hard labour, they look basically the same frame but with a new ratchet type clutch new magnet setup, drilled handle and drapped in gold the only thing i can see wrong from first impresions is that the side plates will mark easy been anadized gold like the sloshs apparently there will be a 515 version which will have a 5mm narrower spool which should suit light lines and unload better, anyone heard of prices etc.

just another company trying to get more money from us anglers with tarted up reels that will probably be no different to the penn 525 mag extra or the supermag apart from having nice gold shiney things on it

I suppose you are right, a bit like the saltist range from Daiwa, they could have just stopped at making the slosh range of reels. then we could go on to rods and everyone will still be using the old cono flex dc8 and so forth. I think they call it progression.

still say its just another gimmick to get anglers to part with more cash maybe im wrong but i doubt if they will be any better than what penn offer now .

i agree with you, like the new sloshes, from what i herd they arnt much difference acept abit more shinny. hopfully these new penns arnt like that.

wouldnt think penn reels would damage a good reputation by launching a reel or reels that was not as good if not better than the previous models.

The rrp is the same as the mk1 so really the hard earned cash is the same amount but you are getting a better reel ie clutch and the problematic mag setup is fettled, if you decide to keep up with the joneses then that is upto you but as already said it is progresion;)

ps the saltist is a 100% better reel than the sloshs in all accounts.

Just another farce for the sea angler to pay money for a face lifted reel...
