Like all others I suspect, I get most of my tackle from local shops as and when required, but every now and again have a blast on mail order (birthdays etc). Generally I use Gerry`s of Morcambe or Veals, both of which have proved excellent both in value and delivery.
This time as the wife was looking to sort me something for a birthday I happened to pick up one of the brochures from one of the sea fishing mags (in fact I got the same brochure in two mags last month)
From Glasgow angling centre, so as I thumbed through I circled odds and ends and my better half done me the favour of ordering on telephone.
That was 7 days (or maybe 8) ago. and still no delivery.
So after a curt call today and a comment about veals ........ the reply she received was basic , with no apology, it`s not sent yet, we said 7-10 days and if you think veals could do better you should have gone there !

next time we will , and I hope everyone reading this will do the same.

Norman, I can understand your displeasure particularly as these companies ram their products down your throat every month in the form of brochures in all of the popular fishing magazines. Upon placing the order they then fail to meet your expectations.

I have recieved great service from the following in no particular order:

www.poingdestres.co.uk
www.veals.com

However since Temples became Frasers of Whitley Bay, they usually always get my business as they will do their best to match if not beat the online retailers prices. I also think they do some discount for NESA/Fishing club members.

yeah, stuey your right on there . . . .
As i said I generally shop local but it`s a good way for the wife to get me something I`ll use as a birthday prezzie and to be honest the price aint the thing in this case, just that it`s a box of goodies delivered to the door as a present .................... unfortunately a lot too late (I`d have happily paid extra for delivery but none of the others seem to have delivery problems)

Norman, do you not remember Ian having the same bother with them? they sent him that bonny lumi "one drop" pirk as an apology, when his order finally arrived.

Alan,
Yes I know what you mean, but she`s happy to be presented with a nice glossy mag with loads of rings around things then she`s gets all the credit for sorting it ........... no probs in the past LOL

Keith
Doh, was that the same company , I should have listened more carefully ..... that was a year or two ago and they`ve still not changed ?, must have cost them a fortune for their brochures . . . . . .. .

what was the name again? oh yes Glasgow Angling Centre

Done.

Done.

Consider it moderated Norman. You have been a member of NESA for a long time and always give credit where it is due. You havn't said anything wrong at all mate and after all, they do have the right to reply if they read it.

What we won't allow is indiscriminate condemnation of tackle dealers, usually by people that have fallen out with them or from someone with a grudge. We all have dealers that we like and others that we don't like the best way to hurt them is to not use them.

Jim.

I think people need to be warned about this level of service ,or rather lack of it , reputation is what dealers thrive on and giving themselves this type of report well they only have themselves to blame ,that's what this sort of forum is for ,we all know which dealers we like best and it's good to be forewarned about what ammounts to very very poor customer care. Thanks Norman .

Norman,
I see nothing here a moderator should be worried about. You are not advertising a particular company and I for one take note that you are warning us about a particularly bad service.

I deal with a company who advertise heavily on the internet and in the angling press who I find very competative and also very local. So i see something on their site and go in the shop and buy it. I end up being asked to pay more than the prices quoted on the net.
Their arguement is that the costs of selling on the net is lower than through the shop...my arguement is that it comes off the same shelf. I always get net prices in the end.

My personal preference is to buy from someone I can talk to and also from someone I can take a faulty product back to and get answers even if that happens to be under the threat of insertion of the said faulty item

Tesco have started to sell tackle and you should really worry if your Mrs comes home with a load of that for your birthday.

Cheers
Dave

Is that true? How can you prove you're a member of this site?

I would of thought that this type of forum is the appropriate arena to voice such opinions and experiences.

I have been trying to track down some US made Acme Kastmaster Bass wedges i use in the resevoirs for trout. The only place i can find them was the tackle shop in question and on e bay.

I now know where to take my business.

Juts found those on here too - they look remarkably like Dexter Wedges...which are available virtually everywhere

Thanks for that Norman, I was going to place an order with them, also from a brochure, allegedly saving me ££££'s! Usually use gerry's of morecambe if ordering on line (as you have mentioned) never had any probs with them, but now usually use local dealers, as it's much less hassle.

Well, I`ve been away with work this week down in welsh wales , hence no posts, however just to keep yous up to date its now friday (must be 10 or 12 days after order now) and NO not received anything from GLASGOW ANGLING CENTER.
