Monday’s forecast was pretty good, the little ‘un was home from his travels and reports from the marina were encouraging enough to venture out for an evening.
We headed out of the river and Mark took us up to the rough ground off Cullercoats for the first drop. It’s a conveniently close starting point where we’ve had some productive Spring sessions in the past but not this time.
Onwards to the Can with the tide picking up we were straight into fish. When the fishing slowed, adding a fresh bait to the hook brought fish back again; nothing big all in the 1 to 3 pound range with a couple kept for the pan. Peeler and prawns did the job. It was noticeable that as we drifted south from inshore of the can the fishing died off.
His first fish in a year.
