About 14 months ago I bought a Led Lenser H7R after being recommended by a friend. It's a fantastic headlamp; lightweight, variable beam from wide flood to narrow spot which throws a beam well over 100yds, more than adequate for any kind of fishing. The brightness is also variable, it's handy to be able to turn it down for baiting up when you don't need so much light, saving battery power.
Unfortunately; last time I went out it failed to switch on; until I moved my head. I moved again and it went off. Obviously a dodgy wire; so I used my spare instead. Next day I examined it and found that if I wiggled the power cable where it enters the battery compartment, it would go on and off. One of the wires must have broken and it was making and breaking.
I emailed the UK importers, Ledco, explaining the fault. I received an email straight back apologising for the inconvenience, and they would send me a brand new replacement out along with a jiffy bag to return the faulty one. I came home from work the next day to find a package waiting for me. It was my new headlamp as promised with a large jiffy bag with the postage already paid on it. All I had to do was drop my headlamp inside and hand it in to the post office; nothing to pay.
I emailed them back thanking them for their excellent and unbelievably quick service. I personally have never had this quality of service before.
I have heard of several H7R's having the same fault that mine developed, and the company seem to have taken note too; because they have redesigned the power cable. Instead of a straight cable entering the battery compartment which over time due to flexing and bending can break; they now fit a coiled section, kind of like a spring which takes up any movement in the cable, avoiding the flexing that was causing the problem. It's now a much better design and should prevent any problems in future.
I can't recommend the company highly enough for their customer service.
