Where do i start?
Left 4.45 am friday. all was well, till I relised Id missed a turnoff, and was on the A74 to bloody Gasgae! after 35 miles i manged ti find a turn off and began the long haul back to where I should have been, eventually arriving at drummore at 9.30.
Had a good day on the friday, after not being able to find a mark my mate tyold me about, taking about a dozen mackerel on spinners, and the odd small pollack on floats, a few wrasse, and a couple of coalies.
Followed by several Pints of the black stuff, and ane or twa wee malts!
Went out at 8 am Sat, to find Jim, and the two steves waiting outside.
and we found the mark my mate told me about.
BINGO!! safe to fish off,, and deep water, seven of us fished fairly comfortably.
Young steve t6ook the first pollack on float.
a few dogfish, for us who had baits out.
I had a good take on my bait, and would have laid money on it being a doggie, but was actually a strap conger, about 4 lb, my first ever, so I was happy as.. etc. began to take a few wrasse, and pollack to 2lb on frelined rag.
Changed to a spinner and was standing under the tip of my rod spinning, when the tip of it almost split my head, the rod butt was lifted right over the stand, took a bit shifting out of the kelp, and eventually landed a pollock that weighed between 7 ana half and 8 pound.
I wanted to return it after pics, but it was very deep hooked and bleeding from the gills, so it was taken, pity, but it would have been pointless returning it.
ten minutes later, i had a savage take on my spinner, but whatever it was dived straight for the kelp, after a few mins fight my 20 pound braid parted company with the spinner, and whatever was on it,
My yell of BOOKING FAST TED! ( or i think that was what i said)could be heard in belfast, or so JIm tells me.
all in all, a cracking weekend, thanks to all who came, and to Brian and Susan, for the great food and beer in the ship.
