Mullet!

There's been a few reports of Mullet being seen recently, has anyone got any experience of catching them or any ideas for getting one on a lure. I know bread flies and small shrimp flies are often used and I've seen a few adapted meps type spinners usually fished with a small rag worm behind them on a single hook. What about LRF style though, would they take a small isome in a lead head, or even a bread fly.

used to catch them on harbour rag back home so isome should work
open sea mullet more aggressive takes that estuary/harbour fish so would think they would be a better chance of a take on a lure

just heard bass and mullet at my mark for the weekend, 9lb bass caught last week, both in the same shoals and feeding on bread groundbait
fingers crossed I get some luck

I tried the Meps Spinner/Single Hook/Isome method once. I had a few fish bump the lure and had one take the isome off and swim away with it in its mouth but didn't manage to catch one. A lad 50 yards from me using bread and float fished ragworm was pulling them in. It looks like the method will work but may need some patience. The isome they took was a pink one, they did not seem too bothered about other colours.

Cheers lads, ive made up a couple of meps with single hooks, ive also made some bread flies and for something a bit different if tied up what I'm calling a bread head, basically its a bread fly on a lead head, watch this space.

Have caught Mullet before when on holiday down on south coast using a varity of different baits/methods and have seen them caught on spinner and fly.

Have also seen the fish in S/land marina but you're not allowed to fish there. I reckon if they were very close to the marina entrance that they could be drawn out but that would be a two person job though.

Apart form the marina anyone heard of any other spots locally. If any one is fancying a crack at them give me a shout

Ive seen lots of mullet this summer from roker pier look to be 6-8lb in weight ,
