Multiplier for spinning ?

Normally I would use a fixed spool reel for maccy spinning etc, etc, I am thinking of using a small multiplier this year instead of the fixed spool, has anyone any thoughts on which multi would be suitable ?

Cheers.

Very few benefits of using a multi mate... Far outweighed by a good fixed spool. Main issue is the weight of the lures etc required to get a spool to spin correctly... Ie: it generally doesn't hence the reason most anglers dont use one for lure fishing. You will find most fishing with bait uses a multi for ease and the benefits whilst casting however almost all of the same anglers will use a fixed spool for light spinning. Decent fixed spool all the way for me mate!

i have got 4 multipliers for the summer and sea spinning on my zziplex bass heavy i use a abu 5600 on the zziplex light i use a abu 4500 i got from a lad on this site it was bargain i also got 2 black max as spares they all cast a dream the 4500 and the black max can cast 40g lures better distance than a standard fixed spool

daiwa millionaire. older 6hm model, picked it up on ebay about 10 years ago for 20 quid or so. love it to bits. use it on a 12' carp rod, 12' greyflex spinning rod or a 10' daiwa sensor spinning rod. 30,40 50g lures absolutely fly with on the carp rod but can still chuck 20g stuff a fair distance as well

I use one of those bait casters with level wind _ 10 lb mono and a 3oz lead - works for me

I hope you're using a leader with that or aren't on the same pier/venue I am when you're swing that about mate.

As already stated FS makes it simple, why over complicate fishing for mackeral by using a multi, having said that I've seen a fair few older fellas using mutli's on beachcasters smashing feathers out and bringing in full houses successfully. IMHO though its horses for courses and the FS wins, especially for spinning.

I always use my penn 525 with a 4 hook daylight rig, tend to get that extra distance when they are a bit further out, also a 3 piece salt mx.

abu 5000 / 5500seriers spot its one of 2 reels i use, however other 1 I use is a okuma xs 250 and juts as good. i bought it bout 5 years back and and still going strong and only paid £25 for it from reelsport not sure if he still sells them, but worth tring there first

Just bought a Blue Max baitcaster reel and Baitcaster rod outfit. Looks ok for using off rocks. Going to try when weather picksup. I also take another spinning outfit with fixed spool.

Get a small abu with a left hand wind , easier to cast then engage , I've got a couple I use for pike but you can't use any light lures with them , best with 1 or 2oz , try the 5601 ( I think ) with the thumb release , great reel with braid , good luck mate and tight lines .
