can anyone suggest a half decent multiplier fo beachcasting ive got about 80.00 to spend and ease of use would be helpful as im used to fixed spool reels thanks:)

Hi a bit more info would be helpfull i'e what venues clean, mixed, rough but to be honest a decent all rounder would be a Penn 525 mag very good reels excellent casting and easy to control using the mags. Can cope with all but the most extreme.

i would recommend 6500 mag mate ...i do mainly use a 525 mag tho and a slosh for my second but if u have just started out i find that the magnetic cast control on the abu has much better variance than my 525 ...and for that reason alone i would say go for second hand 6500 mag ct. could not fault mine even when i have strong wind against the direction of the cast... the 525 i feel is a lot faster tho ....

6500 reels aren't much cop for mixed ground - for your money I'd probably look for a 2nd hand Penn 525 mag / mag extra / supermag; you should be able to get a mint one for £70-80, a more worn one for £50-60. Load it with 18-20lb line (not too full to start with!) & a leader, and start with the mags on full. It'll be like casting with the handbrake on, so as you get used to it back the mags off a notch at a time until it feels comfortable - it's a reel that you can "grow into" as your technique improves & should serve you well whatever ground you choose to fish.

Gary :)

didnt see ur mixed - ruff comment. mate ..must have been typing the same time..yeah if thats the case u want the 525'pocket winch' mag. must say when i crossed from fixed spool to multiplier i learnt on a mitchell reel on the field then used a 535 mag gs. which was fine .. when i was really comfy with multipliers then i went for the 525 mag ...that was my learning curve ...

cheers for all the comments one of my mates has given me a slosh 20 to use over the winter to get used to a multiplier so even better:D

had my sl30sh about 8 yrs now and never ever had any kind of problem with it at all, except that i took the brakes out hahaha

I gave up with the sloshes after 2 failed on me. I might well have had dodgy batches as a lot of people swear by them. 525s and Saltist for me now, although looking for a torium but very expensive
