It is one of the things that I always keep in the freezer Stevie. I know it's not much of a help to you now but when you can get some, make sure you keep three or four spare bags in your freezer and replace them as you use them. It is one of my favourite baits so I always have some in.

I have just bought some today from Morrisons and just finished shelling them coming from Stockton seems you have the same problem as me being more inland, these weren't massive but I got half a bag (maybe should have got more thinking about it now) but half a bag was only 1.60 that made up the equivelent of about 3 bags from the tackle shop.

Hope I aint telling my granny how to suck eggs hear only trying to be helpful but being small I have lashed them to wooden sqewers with elastic thread and shot them in the freezer with the juices, its a first for me but I was told I could just snip of what is needed on the day

That will do the job nicely lorry, some people just tie it around bait needles with bait elastic and then freeze it, just the same thing really. It can help to stop your hands being so cold when you are actually fishing. I knew someone that froze the Mussel on the hooks in ice cube trays.

I have Mussel, Runnydown, Razorfish, Squid, Clam and some Crab in my freezer Stevie. It always means you can get out at short notice, even if the tackle shops are closed mate.
