mussels and teabags

i think i've found a novel way of presenting mussels on your hook as a bait ,teabags[ use only tetley teabags as they let the flavour flood through] cut open a [tetley] teabag at the top and empty the tea out, fill it full of chopped mussel or anything else you want to throw in , and sow it back up or use bait elastic when it's on the hook to seal it, i tried it out last week and it works fine ,the teabag it's self is very durable and doe'snt dissintergrate in the sea it's also very cheap and the perfect size.:red::red::red:

finger bandages have been mentioned in the past for similar shennanigans

Squid mantles work as well but make a rubbish cup of tea.

Poly bag things they use don't they, that dissolve in water. They also use lasers, remote control boats, satellite imagery and "boilies" (*Shudder*)

Using t bags is an old trick but using a small amount of kitchen roll will do just aswell,the main point is to give you something to grip and and for the elastic to get a bind as you tie the elastic around, instead of chasing the slimy mussel around and around the hook trying to get a bind on the elastic.

If you get your mussels live then feed em for a week by puttin a spoonfull of porridge oats in the water - toughens em right up

i seen an old bloke on the headland a few years back using old stockings think il just stick to gettin ma hands dirty and baiting the mussel to the hook with good old bait elastic no offence but id rather have a cuppa tea instead of waistin it

easier putting 5 or how many you like on bait needle and wrap with bait elastic to make a sausage and stays on mint (not my idea was a sea angler mag vid i think)

I use an apple corer with the end chopped off to create a spoon to load the mussel in. Wrap it in fine elastic, when you pull the mussel off the corer, the tightly wrapperd muscle can be cast as hard as you like. Good for boat fishing as well, last more than one bite and baits can be quickly prepared. Excellent for when your hands are cold in the Winter as you have a good grip on the corer handle. Got mine from Woolies, best not lose it or it may be more than 99p to replace !!!!!!!!!!

Tie up some pennell snoods
make some big runnidown ans mussel baits
wrap in cling film and freeze
unwrap - clip on and cast

they fish brilliantly, all the juices are released on the sea bed, thaw out quickly.

no cold or messy hands, transport in a flask, and you can put back in freezer if you don't use them.

done really well with them

A good tip that Marty. I used to always do it at the end of a session too, bait a couple of big pennels up and freeze them when I got home. They used to save quite a bit of time on your next session and caught with them quite a few times before my mate was in the water.
