hey lads,
out fishing on tuesday night and i got my first ever bass,
i didnt even know i had a fish on when i was pulling it in
i never saw a bite and it didnt fight back,
i just thaught i had alump off weed on
it was on the first cast and i only put it about 50- 60 yards to see if anything was working close in, and my mate was belting it out so we coverd more ground, i think it was a total fluke as i was fishing for cod with lug worm and razor fish but it worked, the fish was 3 1/4 pound, i will try to get a picture up soon, i just need to get it off my phone

Nice one mate. Odd the lack of fight, they normally go off like a bullet.
Great fish to catch and blinkin lovely on the plate :)

heres a pic ( if it works) if no its in my photos on my profile

Well done. I got two last week. I can understand why they are sought after fish-have you seen the price of them in the fishmongers.
I was targeting them on the day i caught mine.
I don,t cast out far just about the third breaker. Sometimes this is only 30-40 yards out.

I was watching Hugh Fernely Whittingstall the other week and he said the same thing. He was saying they are so pricey because they are the trendy fish in restaurants at the minute. He went out and caught bass and black bream then offered them to some fishermen and they all said the bream tasted nicer, even though it's a third of the price.

We were fishing the becons when he caught it. Fishing just past the rocks - literally! If he hadn't caught a fish he was stuck. Sometimes you just have to have the balls to cast that close in - as proven it can reap rewards. Lovely tasting fish - the only thing is Jamie doesn't eat fish so gave it away!!! Doesn't know what he's missing.

cheers every one, and yer as darren says we were fishing the beacons, and i was only casting about 50 - 60 yards and it was a bit doubting if i could get a fish over the 2 rocks in frount of me, but i luckerly managed it, and yes i did give it away but apparntly it tasted realy good and they enjoyed it

just in case you didnt know, for a headline story in the Journal you are meant to present me with the fish. Don't like fish, it's amazing how many anglers fresh and sea don't like fish. I have just had two lovely cod filletts for tea.

well Mr charlton if you like you can drop some
of them "lovely cod filletts " off at my house
if ya like for my tea as i can't catch crabs
never mind fish at the mo :D lol.

i don't catch them I just go to the weigh ins, take a few photos and scrounge whatever fish I can get, beats having to get bait and going out on all those colds nights.

Had some of the Bass i caught for my tea tonight. Two fillets cooked in oven wrapped in tin foil, lemon juice,Rosemary herb, virgin oil.
Very nice but nowt flash.Tasted meaty. If i manage to catch anymore will cook fish whole and stuffed with herbs.
