Me and Tom fished down marsden last night the mark is between camels island and marsden rock bottom of the stairs. Can anyone tell me the name of the mark ? Seems pretty clean ground until you cast at distance where I found some kelp

We were gonna fish camels island but found it was cut off by the tide so at what stage of the tide can you get on without waders or do u HAVE to have waders to get on

if you fished infront of the stone steps then its just called the stone steps. If you fished to the left then its holmes gut and if you fished closer to camels then its the 3 shelves. Ithink even on a poor tide you need chesties to access camels but it depends on tides and sea conditions. Did you catch owt?

We were right at the bottom of the steps next to the first aid hut how far to the left is Holmes gut ? I missed 2 and Tom missed one only small stuff though

Camel island crossing

Camel island crossing

Fished a lot down that way during the summer. If memory serves me you can cross it dry when the water is 3.5m or less (although this may have changed), once the water rises above this level it's wet, it's ok, to wade across in chesties on a very small tide but its too dangerous to cross over on high water on a big tide. If your crossing the channel at any time when it's flooded make sure you take a 5-6ft stick / pole to judge the depth and try and retrace your footsteps coming back across. The ground and pathways across are constantly changing with the tides so be careful. If I know I'm going onto the island and have to wade across when its reasonably deep (I.e above the knee level) . I always make sure I'm wearing a floatation vest as well as waders.

camels in my opinion best fished 2 hours either side of low on small to medium tide, with a good northerly sea.
