Need advice from rock fishers!

Hello lads, me and a couple of mates are heading to scotland in a few days fishing, we have fished here many of times but only ever use sand eel baits, we catch alot of dog fish and the odd codling here and there, what im after is a bit of advice mabey on bait or where abouts too fish this place, i have put red marks on our usual fishing spots so if anyone has any advice im all ears, the place is called brighouse bay, cheers. http://i.imgur.com/E444n.jpg

No expert mate but I have had a couple of weeks up there. Me I wouldn't fish in the bay itself but out on the front of the rocks to the left of the bay on your picture as you look inland. Its rough ground but maybe more promising. Go to the end of the caravan site next to the golf course and there's places to park, walk down through the woods and round the headland and theres loads of promising rock marks right in front of the golf course itself. Torrs point also good. You can find it on an OS map or do a search on here. Good luck mate. Hope this helps.

From what I gather shore fishing is quiet this time of year up there "just what I've been told" but worth a try on the float with Fresh Lug close against the rocks for Wrasse doubt their will be any pollock about not sure about Dogs either as last time I fished S.W Scotland in winter i blanked after fishing 8 days off the belt but that was on the isle of Arran which is a canny way from where your going but still in the Gulf Stream so.........

cheers lads, a few month ago my mate caught a 4 and a half lber from the bay, may try walk past the golf course and try where you said hopefully get some decent fishing in

It is indeed Scotty I love all of the Hebredes isles each one has its own unique attraction but I find the people of the islands make it great being so welcoming. However The Isle Of Bute is my favourite which I keep going back year after year

Totally agree with all this, especially about fishing off the front.

To be honest, it'll be very quiet up there at this time of year. If, when you go, theres been a good SW blow, fish the Senwick shore with lugworm for codling. Another mark to consider is across Kirkcudbright bay, the lifeboat station. Have a look at an O/S map and you'll see the marks.
