Neoprene socks

Just a quick question, is it best to wear them next to your skin or with thin socks, trying to keep feet warm when winter fishing.

Wear them over regular socks - I think your feet would sweat hellishly in neoprene.

They are canny but Iam a 7 and had to get 10-11 but good value for a fiver

Hi mate I got some a few years back for the same reason as you but my feet got very sweaty and then very cold so in my case they did not keep my feet warm.
If your moving about they are fine but when you stop and start fishing your feet get cold quick.

Would agree, feet sweat too much in neoprene socks. Try googling british army arctic socks, been used for years in Norway by British Army/Marines.

If you want warm feet get these if you plan on staying dry go for the original ones , ie not wading with wellies

good question that, @ as usual some good answers. had me thinking,yes i wear mine on top of socks @ come to think of it my feet also seem to sweat while rockhopping then as mentioned get cold @ damp, when static. tight lines.:thumbup::thumbup:

Ive wore brittish army arctic socks since serving myself and they do the job but only with a good warm pair of boots... plenty other socks do the same job or better. most army issue kit is way over priced usually on the civvi market and unless ya get them cheap i wouldnt bother as they are nothing special. Having said that its all i wear but thats coz ive got a drawer full of them and they were free.

A good pair of boats and a normal pair of boot socks should do the trick. Stay away from water proof socks they create more problems than they solve.

Davey ive worn the neoprene socks for 4-5 years (because I won them lol) they don't keep the chill out when youre stood still wearing waders, good warm boots theyre ok. this year im going to do what steve has said , good quality outdoor socks . if they fail I`ll put the neoprene socks over the top
