nesa 10 years on

Well its almost 10 years since i joined nesa, seen a lot of members come and go and met some good lads.
Whats everybodys thoughts on the things that have changed over the years.
I was quite a regular poster in the early days and participated in some of the nesa shore comps, last few years my posts have been very sporadic, even so ive still visited the site almost every day for the last ten years..

One thing i have noticed that the same groups of people comment on the same peoples threads, seems you need to be in the crowd. Im not basing this on my experience but just by browsing. Seems there is a few cliques.

Aside from that, for the forum to be around for this length of time somethings been done right and the the size members list here is a testament to that.
Nesa has definatly changed from its beginnings, but i suppose thats just evolution.

hmm yes things do change, and will end up with a hard core of posters all having different agendas.
posts to, vary from brilliant to not even getting a reply.

my perception is all in all a pretty friendly crowd, and a very high help rate.

"cliques" have sort of gone over my head hadnt really noticed, but i guess as people with common interest gel together it can happen without realization

Best site on the net by far. Good lads, huge amount of help and info given happily and freely. We have learned so much from people on here, from general fishing info, to marks to try when we visit the North East.

Friends usually post on each other's threads, nothing wrong with that, although it can be a bit frustrating to see twice the number of views on other posts, compared to a post you have taken time over writing! :red: Everyone wants their own thread to be popular!

I have only been a member for a couple of years, but it is the best thing I have done to increase my,admittedly narrow, fishing nous.

Along with seaanglingreports.co.uk another very good site, it is all I use.

Thanks Nesa ! :)

Pretty new to the site great site n I find the majority r a realy helpfull bunch. Havnt realy noticed no clicks Meself but a suppose a dont realy look into it enough to notice

No idea when i joined but i do remember i was member 37 so must of been many moon's ago, i also fished the comps, went to the litter picking and many other early day events. It is a good site and better than alot of other fishing forums, as with all forums from all aspects of life, people have opinions and friends and this often clashes with other peoples opinions...as long as it does not get out hand as it has the odd time on here people will continue to enjoy the site.

The site is only as good as the info put on to it by its members and much of it is great and well worth a read.

My thread certainly isnt a dig at nesa, i believe its the best fishing forum, i have never even bothered to join any of the others, but have browsed.
Just to gauge peoples thoughts on how things have changed for better or for worse.
Ive been a member of other forums not relating to fishing and some of them are truely petty and childish places to be a part of. I have only seen a couple of instances of this in all the time ive been here.

its a jolly good post mate:):) doubt if anyone will see it as a dig at nesa, its just a way as you say to get peoples thoughts:)

This forum is without the best natured one, i look at WSF as well and it seems a lot on there look for arguments.

As for cliques, i just think it is anglers with similar interests that comment on each others threads, i read the shore angling threads but dont comment much as i feel i'm out of touch with shore fishing as i've only been twice in four years, so i mainly comment on the boat fishing and chat sections.:)

Good thread Stewey...:)

A good thread mate I joined the forum last year I have fished for a long time but found this site when I got back into fishing after a short break you do get some cliques on here and some d***s but I have found the vast majority of members will give good advice, some people find it easy to be d***s when they they are behind a computer or a phone yet the same people will say they are not on nesa when you see them on the piers or local fishing marks

having only been a member for a short while cant comment on the early days, but when i joined nesa i had just started fishing had been a few times with me dad years ago then decided i would take it up properly, have met some decent people off nesa and always had great help on marks etc when i first started off.

i have learnt a lot from this forum and its members and hope it continues for another ten years.

only thing that hasn't changed since it's conception is the grumpy old sea dog who helped start it up, he's still hanging in there

Mate i find it very useful, some of the reports can be a "little misleading" but if you want advice there's usually someone to help.
Just tonight for eg i contacted a lad on here (Phil-itofish) av never met him before, but he gave me loads of help and that seems to be the way.
I only came back to Angling 2 year ago and have had loads of help from lads on here.
Defo dont think its cliques just lads who post a lot, and that is what its about really.
BTW, if one of them "helpful lads" can direct me to some white worm beds ad be obliged (lmfao)

:) nice lad Jaybee been a good few years since i last seen him, not met Elton in person and the other old guy...well see him often looking for fish at the marina :)

Good to read peoples views. Ive looked at other forums and decided against joining as some of them looked like the wild west.

i went down to see jaybee at christmas time,he is well into his photography,in a bit ill health aswell, cant walk far without being out of breath

ive met a lot of friends and had a few good trips away with nesa lads
poole,jersey,whithorn,the mull,eyemouth,

we all have jaybee to thank for what we have now
he is a great bloke

Having only been a member for a few years the comments and threads overall are very helpfull and informative, the ones that give me the best laugh are ones from their 'secret spot' or 'mark x'.
