Cheers. First time i've had eelpout so i know for next time

A few for me to add please Mike, I forgot to take pic of my whiting when I caught it but it was gut hooked and kaput so took it home where I took pic, the others are flounder and dab, cheers.

It did have an orangy tinge and brownish blotches. Iirc it did not ave any barbules and was VERY wriggley and liveley. I remember cursing the thing as it wrapped my snood line around itself.

Heres the same pic lightened, wich shows the colouration a little better.

Well done Nemo. Etive? you got any better pictures of the Woofer? I may well be wrong but from the head shape it could be a small Bull Huss. Looks too squat / square for a LSD

I will go with LSD, the markings do not look right for a huss.

im no expert and just assumed they were all lsd, the top one here was identical to what i said was a lsd in my first post, would be nice if it was a huss, my mate cought this aswell which has very different markings

The chewed up fish is a Poor Cod. I've had a canny few of those off the south coast and the glitter next to it confirms it. You always end up covered in loads of scales Nice catch well done.


Regarding Huss/LSD, I got this off the internet.....

There are a couple main ways to identify these fish apart. The first identity method is to look at the nasal flaps of each fish. The Bull Huss nasal flaps are separate and not continuous with the upper lip like the Dogfish.

The other way is by colouration, the Bull Huss generally has larger spots and is usually a darker colour with dark blotches underneath unlike the dogfish which is completely white underneath. This picture shows a Bull Huss on top and a Dogfish below it.

So without a photo of the underside of each fish we cannot say for sure but based on the markings I would say this one below could possibly be a huss but the others are all LSD.

i have no idea, until someone can say other wise it looks like a LSD for the list, cheers for the input so far. 2lb 1oz it weighed, nice little fish
