Well done Si you are the first person to catch a fish in the Species Hunt. You need to post the picture of your fish here rather than a link to your catch report. I have done it for you this time but please remember for the next ones. Thanks

Cheers, No bother Mike.

I don't think Hagfish should be allowed as they predate 'Fish' and are classified differently. (I.e not as fish) having the word fish in the name doesn't mean much, after all a Seahorse isn't born in a stable..... :D

The 2013 league table has now been uploaded to the first post.
I blanked on SSP last night so still no points for me

Hagfish vote is 5 all. I am going to vote against including it too since it is not a fish. It does not have a backbone so is technically an invertebrate. Fish are vertibrates not invertebrates. Check out the wikipedia link for more info. That puts it at 6-5 against so far.

Well done mate, that lot puts you in first place. That is also the first herring anyone has ever entered in the NESA Species Hunts.

Thanks, am sure someone else will get a herring while feathering for mackerel.
The trick is to fish real light and get the fall speed right, they will take OTD

where are you catching herring at this time of year?

Herring come inshore at this time of year , best time is early evening 2hrs after dark. They will be feeding on very small pin eels in the top 10ft of water. Fish very light with a slow fall speed and keep light off the water. Try all piers

Thankyou bassboyo for info, this is what its all about enabling/encouraging others to get out there and do it for themselves...........Dave.,
