Never thought i would see the day........

:D Strange, Ive fished along side some of the best anglers in the north east on roker pier ;)

Great sport to be had on roker in the summer mate, jsut dont get the chance for the mackie bashers

They do mate hate pier fishing with a passion i dont think its possible for anyone to live closer to roker pier and i fished it once last year imo amsure hundreds will disagree takes no thought or skill to catch fish of a pier. And you still get loads of numptys on in winter. I have fished shields pier once does nowt for me rock cliff and beach man

i dont think blyth pier will be open much longer its falling to bits it needs some cash spent on it rails are ready to fall off health and safety will have a field day just takes one drunk macky basher to fall in , jamcod

1: CCTV on pier to enforce fines for antisocial behaviour.
2: More council interest in our fantastic pier, it should be a massive tourist attraction that generates money for local traders and alike.
3: Fisherman pay a small levy to fish on pier during summer but you must pay online with a permanent address.
4: A complete blanket ban on alcohol on the pier, I seriously cant understand why the council allow it anyway, it will surely end in a serious fatality.
5: We pressurise the council so we have a big input into changing the future of how the pier is used so we don't lose our beloved fishing rights.
6: And finally a friendly petition backed with photographs and a proactive approach by anglers to help cleaning pier.
Every blog Ive read on here has a meaningful idea, lets contact council and talk.

Spot on Mark, just need the authorities to buy in to it.
But don't you think that the various angling clubs who use the
Pier could be more proactive, after all, they will be the first to suffer if they
Restrict the fishing.

Ok so thats 2000 views .Think we all agree that the piers are mank and if we all want to continue fishing them ( apart from phil lol ) we need to do something about it . Any objections from any one if i try ? ? May not see results this year but going forward it has got to be worth a try . May be banging my head on a wall but i love fishing off all types and hate to see what is going on .
Would like to think the owners of this site have been reading all these posts too . If they have objections please pm me as i dont want to do the wrong thing by nesa . Love this site , love the banter , love fishing .

It could backfire mate. Don't rock the boat

Dont get me wrong, if anglers rights were guaranteed to be upheld tgen it might be s cause worth fighting for but we could end up booted off altogether or seriously out of pocket

Don't worry about it James, just go for it. If you have time on your hands to bring it to the attention of the people in local government, who would be implicated, if things turned really bad on the pier, all you are doing is giving them a heads up.
If you need pm me

Andy rutherford rutherfordand the bloke from sues cafe and a few others have been fighting for fishing access for years. They are having meetings with the power to be. They are doing it in a legal and professional manner. Now these are professional buisness people and they keep getting fobbed of so what chance does a stand alone have?my suggestions would be speak to Rutherford see when and if there is a next meeting and a few more people attend the group. It was held in the tavern pub hendon

Not everyone has the same ability to cast and lots cant afford the best gear, I have seen people with a cheap set up outfish people with top end gear doesnt meant they cant fish or enjoy fishing

I have crap gear but everyone has to start somewhere. I enjoy fishing but cant afford top of the range equipment. Most expensive thing I own is my spinning reel (shimano exage 4000) cost about 55 quid but that doesnt mean I'm not entitled to fish....

Was up there the other morning and I agree, needs a lot of work done and money spent. Wont happen though, probably just patch it up like it looks like has been done in the past. Shame cos I actually enjoy fishing there

no ones saying people cant fish or its about gear etc etc , im talking about piers and the kind of anglers or a lot of so called anglers they attract , because come the winter in the cold and raging northerly swells etc , you don't see these people at all . The term used is " fair weather fishermen"

I agree your more than entitled to fish mate but i think what marco was saying on a beach ya tend to get the lads who cast and have the better gear as you need distance to beach fish most of the times. And the prats that get on the piers cant fish them. I have had this debate many of times and proved it right anyone can fish a pier and get a good fish. And anyone can fish rough ground lobbing it out 50 yds with a massive bait on. So when you have them odd you attract the lesser fisherman

Exactly, the fish doesn't know what gear you're using, and think oh he's got a 300-400 pound rod, i'll take his bait instead of the lads with the cheap rod from argos, as long as you've got a bait in the water that's all that matters...

get a life get out in the sun enjoy your self ....never change in years this forum still full of people slagging people off,,

**** gear, good gear, who cares
its the chavs to blame,

have you seen the pier in the winter when the proper fisher men fish ,,lol
