Very interesting point that. Personally I've been more successful from a slightly elevated position. I.e rocks, piers, breakwaters etc

Elevation is just a vantage point for me, if the structure, habitat and food sources are available, you can catch just as many fish on lures down the side of a pier wall or jetty post and you can standing on a beach or shoreline. I suppose it's down to personal preference, mind you piers are normally my last choice, but this is mainly down to too many other anglers more than the location itself. (I like a bit space! ;-))

Yes see what you mean.What I'm on about,I suppose are rock marks at low water where you can be at sea level.
Good point about piers etc being too crowded,its no fun,however,I see the sense in having a meet on one where the lads can be at close quarters.

Has anyone tried rapalas for bass/pollock etc?I dont spin for salmon any more so I'm gonna give the raps and flying C's a chuck on me 15-40g set up and damn the expense!

As a point of interest,I only use 1 treble on the raps and use fine lead wire where the others were to keep the lures balance correct

Yes removing the trebbles sometimes effect the lures action and performance.as for
repala some cast like ****e to be honest IMA DUO XOUROS MARIA CHASE are the lures
i use but you could go for pollock bass wrass With SP by going weedless using a texas
rig or a carolina rig or a drop.shot rig

These are sinking lures, not sure yet how deep they'll run yet. He does surface lures mostly, but I thought I'd try something different.

Haven`t been on for a while so only just seen this. Fished fairly fast they`ll run subsurface down to 2ft or so. Fish them slower, with a decent length pause to allow them to maintain their running depth, you`ll be able to get them down to 8ft or so. Looking forward to seeing how they do for Bass. They`ve certainly proved popular for Pike

Ooooh nice, can't resist a Lure off! - got these over the Winter months, in preparation for warmer weather.

2 x Megabass Vision 110's and a IMA Komono II all are shallow divers.

Komono II makes a lovely snaking motion with a rolling action when fished slowly in the top 18inches of water, can be fished closer to surface with the rod tip up. The Vision 110's have a tighter wiggle and rolling action and fish slightly deeper than the Komono II.

Si, if you like those Visions once you`ve tried them, check out "Payo Aegis 110" baits on Ebay - identical copies, very well built and only about a fiver each

that would depend what your setup is, on my standard lure setup i tend to aim between 10 - 30g, with most of my poppers and plugs being between 10-20g and my trusty old Zeniths at 28g.

Just fond these on ebay, some good looking copy lures, ive ordered a couple to see what they are like in the flesh.

When you say Bass Rod, what kind of casting weight is it. A lot of rods are advertised as Bass rods and these are normally a bait rod casting 1-2oz, for lure fishing you want something that casts 10-40g.

its a bass rod , suited to baits if that's the case , that's why I asked , because I doubt id even feel a 22g lure on casting , its rated at 2 to 4 oz ....

Yeah mate that's what i thought, if you want to fish with lures for them you'll be better off getting a spinning rod rated between 10-40g a lot of people use 9ft rods but i think 7ft is the popular choice these days.
