The Penn 525 i,ve used for 4 seasons now, it gets a spray of WD40 now and again and is still going strong. So saying it wont last long wrecking isnt true..

535 for wrecking, 525 for shads with braid and 525 for uptiding with mono.

Yet you just said you use the 535 for wrecking
I know and i'm not having a dig either just saying I struggled with mine "on the wrecks"

You can use any reel on a boat ive landed cod to 12lb on a 525 mag from the shore no problems i like to use a saltist 50 on the boat they are lovely reels smooth and strong ideal allrounder
The consensus of opinion seems to be there is no real answer to this question, ultimately it is horses for courses. My personal preference is as light as possible and as much fun without bullying fish to the surface with overpowered gear, if that means I have to replace a couple of reels every few seasons then I am happy with that, having said that my preference is also fishing shallower ground close in not going off long distances and fishing deep water wrecks. You takes your pick and enjoys your chosen way to fish.
For me this season is going to be fishing with baitcaster rods and reels 20lb braid with lures around 60 to 100gm when conditions allow, I might regret that decision at the end of the season and have a couple of knackered reels but it will enjoyable trying.
For what it's worth I have a pair of 6yr old 525's that have seen lots of use from the shore and for the last 2 seasons from the boat most weekends and have never let me down. That does not mean I believe this is what Bestnest requires, just what I use.

I've just bought an avet last season to replace, or supplement an abu 7001 , I love the avet, but for shadding it falls down on the lack of an automatic uptake on the retrieve, the abu you simply turn the handle and the reel engages and starts winding up, the avet needs to be engaged by the lever drag every time, before winding. When I'm shadding , I do a lot of engaging and disengaging, I'm quite disappointed in the avet in that respect.

The TLD 15 will be the same as the Avet you will have to engage and disengage yourself.

I shore fished in the rough stuff with the same 535 for years, used it 3 times boat fishing in norway so they are built to last in my opinion.
Agree that on a crammed charter you may be better off using heavier gear, but for pleasure fishing, a 535 paired with a modern light slim rod is great choice for shadding.
Tlds are great reels though, so its your choice at the end of the day

Yes you will mate...the 15 is not a massive reel like some are making out. The benefit of lever drag versus star are that your free spool and drag are all in one action.
Those that are advocating other types of reels are generally those with the luxury of choice...ie their own boat
For a one stop shop you can't do much better than the TLD

Just about any reel will do but my preference is a penn torque 100x loaded with braid, 8oz sinker, 9ft 6-10ft uptider and a long flurocarbon hooklength clipped straight to the eye of the lead to stop tangles.
The longer rod imparts so much more action to the shads and you get loads of fish with a slow lift and draw. You can't do that as effectively with a short standard boat rod.
Those of you that have fly fished from a boat will understand the "hang" method and it works extremely well for cod and pollack!
I would say a 525 would cope but its quite a small shallow spooled reel with a slow retrieve, a 30size reel is a much better option. You just have to be careful with the pressure build up of any braid on a graphite spool so a saltist type reel is a better option than an original slosh.
I have a 320ld but it rarely gets used, the higher retrieve of the torque 100 gets you much more fishing time which is important when you want to catch a few extra fish on a drift.
