...been looking at the Shakespeare range of rods and have been tempted by quite a few of them...

Shakespeare Fishing
(as a very good example)

My current rod is a Shakespeare Sapphire 20lb which cost less than £30...so I'm now looking for a "better" rod (although this one performs perfectly adequately)

What other reputable brands are there? or what have other people got their eye on as an additional rod or even upgrade...?

Hi Tony,
I only have the ron thompson hardcore 20-30lb class,2 piece, seems a canny rod for the pennys it cost me

My next purchase will be a Fladen Maxximus 7ft Solid Carbon.

Geet thin but very strong, the best recommendation I give it is Bert has had one for about a year and hasn't managed to snap it yet :D

There's a bloke from Seaton Delaval selling em on ebay just gotta email him and ask if I can collect one.

Yes as Keith says great rod great fun and does the bizzzzz;)
And the hammer my rods get and its still in one piece for now !!

I sent him an e-mail last week Keith, still waiting for a response, think he may be post only. As for the maxximus rods, they look amazing. Billy's got them in if you want to handle one (so to speak)

Well sort of, he said the price quoted was an ebay only price and left a phone number that nobody ever answers. Which translated proabably means the £10 postage contains the majority of his profit.

EDIT: just got an answer they are £59.99 collected.

Just bought the 7ft one from Frasers £62 after discount...it's as thin as a pencil :o

...hope/pray the weather doesn't do what it says it's going to do this weekend so I can test it out

Let us know what you think of them when you get a chance to use them chaps. Had me hands on one today in ID (down to £30 in the sale................kidding 65 notes!). Still don't know how they'll handle 10oz of lead.

You're winding me up John??? just paid £59 in ID last friday.

btw I was using 1lb pirks no probs on saturday, also had a 10oz sinker & 11lb cod on - great fun.
