as you said video editing then get one with the best GPU you can aford, the HD and memory are easy and cheap to upgrade, but its the GPU that does the work when encoding video and with a laptop your stuck with what is built into the motherbord, got a idear of how much you want to spend?

might be a bit more than you want to spend but this is very good MSI GX70 3CC-228UK Destroyer 17.3" LED TFT, AMD A10-5750M, 8GB DDR3, 128GB SSD & 750GB HDD, R9 M290X 2GB GDDR5, Super-Multi - Windows 8.1 [GX70 3CC-228UK]

For 500 you can get a really good quality latop, and a lot of them are much of the same across that price range.

Best thing to do is go to PC world where they have loads out on display and look at the different sizes of screens and type of screen.

Some are matt finish screens and are good for glare and reflections some will be "glossy" screens and look brighter but they pick up glare really bad.

See what make model suits. Check type of keyboard and case etc. Like I say the spec is going to be much the same.

That one posted above is cracking laptop but aimed at serious use like.

Also, and again its down to preference but they will push windows 8 buts its crap. Its really bad Lol. Windows 7 is far better and will be supported longer than the laptop will last. The better makes like HP and Dell will let you "downgrade" to windows7 without charge.

Hope this helps?

best thing to do is build a pc done it my self last year as the ones you buy are crap bought all parts new off ebay cane to around 550 thats 16gig of ram 2tb hdd 120gig ssd graphics card ect

pc

pc

try local pc fairs never been for a few years was one aways down Nissan or Northumbria Centre,Washington and newcastle racecourse much cheaper than pc world

Just to say, I never suggested buying from PC world, but to be fair some of the stuff they sell can't be beaten for the price. Especially when you factor in software etc.

PC fairs and building a computer from parts is all OK if you are that way inclined, and are happy to "tinker" and obviously you will need to buy windows and an office package. Couple hundred there straight away.

Cheers.
