The Northumbris SFC have just had signed off a bylaw meaning that if you plan to drop a pot down ( Max 5 ) it must have a tag attached that will be issued by the NSFC.

This law covers North Shields pier to the scottish borders.

Tags are not yet available but it will come into force very soon .

Just a heads up so you dont get caught out ;)

Cheers

Does that mean that you have 2 tags on the pots and the pots are reduced by 50% from the Humber area allocation of 10 pots?
I have 10 tags from the NESFC and each pot must be tagged maximum of 10 pots. These are replaced with a different colour but the same registration number each year when you apply for them [before Christmas]. They are also stamped with the year as well as the colour. 10 crabs and two lobsters per day in size with no keep pots and they must be landed by the named person holding the tags.
Is this different from Northumberland?

Yes brian its very different...but only if you fish north of the tyne.

I never had pots so dont know the full details...all I know is a tagging scheme is coming in and when operational I assume they will update the website.

Is definately a 5 pot limit...the meeting discussed the cost of tags ...so they are not on order even.

Its bylaw 14 if you want to keep an eye out for it. I will update this when anyfurther info is issued. This thread was to say it had been approved and will be law ...now they have to implement it.

Cheers
Dave
