Im going up Alnwick 2day to have a look in the Greys factory, any tips on which kind of Rod to keep my eyes open for???????:confused::confused:

Any of the above, or possibly a Nitra, I'm sure I saw someone post that there was one in the shop for £99 - bargain.

Gary :)

which rod

which rod

sorry mate l would'nt touch another greys rod as ive had a few well know'n for snapping and ive snapped a few and the life time garatee is nomore as you have to pay admin charges dont know what it is no but a year ago my nitra snapped 4ins from tip had to pay £40 ive still got my old trusty shadow one of the best rods greys made and the jupiter and the mk1 apollo after 15years its still going strong they say theres to much carbon in them now dont know how true that is stick with british made like century and zziplex

My Platinum has been dropped, kicked, rived about and kicked some more - still hasn't snapped

...just demonstrating the other side of the coin so that you can make an informed choice ;)

Got mates with Greys rods who have also never had a problem...

Failing that you could always pay a humungous amount of money for an "unbreakable" rod...just for info one of our club lads had the tip go on his brand new Conoflex...as far as I'm aware he's still waiting for a response/cost to repair...

never tried a nitra but thats what id go for, seen tham and they look canny rods and will handle the rough stuff iv heard. they do snap alot but its a chance u have to take, iv not snapped a rod yet and wouldnt expect to snap 1. i not get the apollo mark 2 its like holding a bag of bricks. get the nitra or save abit more coin and get a century or zippy :) some canny used rods about aswell probly better off looking for a used century

ive got the apollo mk2 and the platinum xs and i cant fault them, they've both been used and abused, especially the apollo which has took some stick on the rock marks. i love the greys rods that much i'm getting the mk3 apollo as soon as i can.

Cheers for all ya Help the Day lads, a wudda been clueless otherwise, as I havnt really gotta Scooby Doo about Rods (YET).....Apollo mk2 in the end, even though there was some pretty scary comments abouth them, when I had returned home, after buying it!!! lol. Fingers Crossed. :D :D :D

you want to stop doing that mate and start fishing with it instead lol

:p

at the end of the day BestNest you make your own choices based on your own experiences...£100 notes while still a lot of cash isn't breaking the bank and if, heaven forbid, you do have a bad experience you learn from it and move on

These types of threads always get the same answers - the lads from Durham all say Zzipplex, Sand Dancers are all Reelsport mad and you'll always get those that say British is best etc etc etc (while they're sat on their PC from the far east with a far eastern imported TV in the living room)

You buy what you can afford and at the end of the day the fish really don't give a rats ass what is in your hand...bait and "the knowledge" is key for 99.9% of how you fish in my opinion ;)

Good luck with your new buy :)

I your excactly reet m8, cheers. My Pal has just been on fone asking if I wanted to buy his Century Kompresso Sport, which ive used and loved! am gutted really as id of snapped his hands of this morning!!! lol
