New starter

Bought the rod (12' 4-8oz) and fixed spool combo loaded with 20lb line, 5 oz weights and hooks for a bit fresh air and a couple of hours with the grandson. Have read many of the posts and good advice and reading. Now concerned as I was going to use a 3 way swivel using the mainline cut offs to tie weight and hook. Am I going to have problems with this as a new starter. Also any advice on quiet places to go to avoid embarasment.
Thanks
Ps Good advice practising on field first, but why didn't someone say you have to walk to pull the weight out of the ground.

When you say you're going to use a 3-Way swivel do you mean along these lines...

Are you also asking which Knots to use?

I use the Uni-Knot for over 99% of everything...
UNI KNOT - Fishing Knot

As to quiet spots - are you over Sunderland way? (guessing by your username;))

Welcome to NESA btw :)

Shields....South and sunny
Knot.......5 twists through bottom loop then through top loop (is a .....knot)
Photograph.....Take away the top swivel piece to the 3 way and a straight length for the weight similar to the hook side is what I am asking.

best places to get started would be on the piers, great places to learn and you dont need to cast so far. and am sure you could ask other sea-anglers for advice when your out fishing:) .RIGS: you could buy a few different "ready tied rigs" and see how they are put together, then go ahead and make your own. tight lines!:)
