Most people now use braid as it cuts through the water and helps reduce drag by the current. For that reason alone it is worth using but it will also increase sensitivity to bites and help avoid tangles if one person is using mono and everyone else is on braid and their lines drifting at different angles. 50lb is a good strength.
Tie or buy a dozen rigs in advance so you can make a quick change when you lose gear on the wrecks, and it helps to avoid sea sickness. I use a Gemini quick clip at the end of the braid main line and just clip a new trace on when needed. If your rigs are a lower BS than your braid, you’ll lose less main line.
Try using shads by winding them 20 turns up from the wreck and dropping them back down, or fish baited hooks with muppets as close to the bottom as you can.
