Hi Guys

I apologise if this post is too stupid but i have never shore fished before (.I spent many years boat fishing )
Can i please ask a few questions
a, Living in Killingworth for easy access can i fish any part of s sluice/whitley beach with same chances of catches
b, Is there a local pier / rocks with better chances
c,Where do you get your bait / whats best ( or lures )
d,have makerel gone now / any codling around

Sorry that i have to go back to basics and you have probably heard it all before

Welcome mate! Plenty decent marks about. Your probally best off making a post on here about when your wanting to go out and meet up with some lads from here... they will keep you right.

Hi mate,

I've only been shore fishing for a couple of years and had all the same questions. I was lucky really - a mate showed me how to get started, some good lads off a forum (the now closed BSA) helped me get better.

I know there are lads on here far better qualified to give advice than I am but here's something I found useful. Pick a mark that you can access easily. Have a wander down to see where other folk fish and what bait they're using. Then fish it and fish it - different tides - different times of day. Look at the bottom on low water. Look for features whether they be rocks or holes - anything that might hold fish. I found that doing that helped me 'read' other similar marks.

If you can get to blyth there are pier, beach and river marks all pretty close together so you can take your pick.
