Lmao, wish I had thought to post that a couple of years ago when I first joined NESA mate.

With questions like that you will go far lol.

Jim.

cheers mate. been sea fishing twice and already took 2 days off work next week to go by myself to see what i can do like. am i sad???

\"how do you catch 20lb cod\"

Same way as you\'d catch a 3 or 4lb cod, m8.........just a matter of right bait, right place, right time ;)

Welcome foci - as previously said - any questions, just ask - doesn\'t matter how basic or \"daft\" you might think the question is - we all gotta start somewhere. It won\'t be long before somebody answers it.

<<<<<first question. where within a 20 mile radious is best for sea fishing where i can pull somethign decent in. what bait what rig etc please help. lol

think ive caught it like specially 2day was mint 14 whiteling in 2 hours it was nearly every cast used loads of rag like

Don\'t expect it to happen every time mind. Great when it does though, I like a lot of others have had the same with Codling, that is the DB mate. The rod end bends like you wouldn\'t believe, heaven lol.

Jim.

you lot will laugh probs but want bigger already...... went with my missuses dad last year and caught 3 coley they were well massive compared to todays fishin even tho it was well quick today felt like i was just putting rag on casting out then reeling in even my nine year old son caught 4 .. on a 2 hook rig always on top hook never the bottom wiered... hope u understand my typing lol

Welcome foci, you send a real shudder of excitement through your post, the big fish have all but gone from inshore waters.
treat the summer fishing the way you would fresh water fishing, nice & light and you\'ll have loads of fun. try wreck fishing for a 20lb er,
most of all keep your enthusiasm

To catch the big fish you\'re probably best fishing the kelpy areas. A lot of the cod have left the shores by now but the reddies are pretty much resident fish. You\'ll get a good knock, a good bite, a good fight and the a good kick in the balls when it gets stuck under a rock or in kelp and you can\'t get the bugger in. That\'s the joy of big fish hunting. Welcome to sea fishing and good luck.

Just an extra pointer. Fishing at night will generally improve your chances of a catch (unless spinning for mackrel :D )
