Hi all,
I have just found this site and am well chuffed.

Anyone on here go out of Hartlepool ?

I\'ve just bought my first boat a reiver sportsman and got it moored at hartlepool. Been out a couple of time\'s and no decent cod yet !
Last trip out had engine trouble but had it sorted now
(something simple). Hopeing to get out this weekend
(depending on weather).

Been looking at the gps plotters in hope of finding some wrecks , anyone have tips on which setup to get ?

I quite fancy the look of the garmin 178c gps,chartplooter,sounder, combo but its a bit pricey and would have to get a bluechart data card aswell. I have a cheap fishfinder already but it does\'nt work when moveing.
I will stick a picture of the boat up when I figure out how

Don\'t know if you\'ve see it yet, but I\'d suggest you have a look at the post \"Beginners Guide To Wreck Fishing\" in the \"Alan Charlton Pages\" section on the Board.
Along with Alans\' guide, I\'ve put a link to a piece written by Norman White (long standing NESA Member and expert boat angler). You\'ll find loads of very useful information in both pieces.

Hi mate, welcome aboard ...
Garmin is fine I use it (see the piece TC pointed out above).
I prefer to have GPS and Sounder seperate, I used to use a combo set (eagle ultranav) but had to keep switching screens as I neared the target (you can use split screen but the size diminishes)

I go out of Hartlepool. Currrently use a RIB (Asashio) moored up on west pontoons behind Springs Health Club.

Hoping to get a new boat soon - might be interested in joint trips so there\'s another boat nearby incase of problems.

For a start, I\'d try off the caravan park at Crimdon, seems best once you\'re far out enough to have 100ft of water under the keel (3 miles or so). We\'ve never (yet) blanked.
