Me and James89 headed up to Newton early doors this morning and had a cracking session on the kelpies.

Fish from the off and both landed a lovely fish each in our first 3 casts. 4.2lb and 4.3lb

Had bites every chuck just about and ended up with 5 Cod and a Rockling for me and 3 Cod for James. The weather was lovely as well which made it even better.

Finished off with a pint in the Joiners Arms to end a brilliant day.

James and his 4.2

Lovely colours on James' fish

Me and my 4.3

Not a bad view of Dunstanburgh either

Another smaller one

and another!

Lovely red colours on this one again

A greedy Rockling

One of the smaller fish today

There was another one or two that we didn't get to take any pics of as they needed to go back straight away, one didn't make it and was swiftly carried away by a gull

Well deserved pint at the end.

Cheers

Phil

Cheers Davy, aye the weather was spot on although the better fish seemed to come on when it was slightly overcast.

I'm still here Reg! Had a few blanks lately but not going to chuck it in just yet.

Cheers Robbo, yes it's a lovely pub. Never tried the food there though.

Marc - haha i'm the polar opposite, never caught a single mackerel all summer (not that i've tried), however James had a fair few off Shields pier a few months ago when we were there & I lost a cracking fish that hung me up.

I've not fished for them all summer mate but had them hammering baits that were intended for plaice so unfortunately caught loads of them! Plenty good fish in the summer off ssp mate, some decent pollock if you know where to look and a few decent codling if ya lucky!

Cheers Trevor haha aye they've probably been for a few pints. Mick - Aye we were, the first one of James' came on bluey though. I had all mine on crab & cart wings combined
