Hoped to get my run of blanks out of the way last night. Get the new year started with a muckle pig but it wasn't to be. Hoped for a bit of wind and big sea but it was flat as a witches and hardly a breath of wind. Fished 4hrs out and 1 1/2 in and I blanked.

It was so quiet the 2 lads with me gave up and packed up their gear. Not a bite until I decided to try my luck off the rocks about half ten. They both set up again and promptly pulled in 2 coddling each about 2lb within 5 mins of LT.

Nice to see the fish are there but would have been nicer on the end of my line.

Could see other head torch action just north of embleton fishing pretty much the same hours. Wonder how they got on.

I fished beadnell mate. Pretty much the same. Ended up a blank. Doesn't seem to be much about at the minute. A wind direction change would be welcome for what is meant to be the best month of the year!!!

Me and a mate fished from Lynemouth in the morning all the way up to embleton and back down again. marathon 12 hours for 5 fish- 1 codling so small capt birdseye would struggle to get a fish finger from it and 4 flounders.
Sea looked great in the morning but flattened right off. difficult day but hope the lads fishing the Comp today faired better.

me and my mate were on pern carr just a few bites between us very poor to be honest that must have been you's straight opposite fishing at the start of snook?

Aye. Didn't venture too far out. Had myself all geared up this week for big sea but spent most of the drive home swearing at myself for another blank. What's the ground like where you were?

We were losing a rig almost every cast last night I could'nt understand it coz I've heard its not as heavy on there I usually get my gear back on snook. Was there a lad fishing off the end of the skeer last night and do you know if he had much? It looked like there was a lot fishing snook last night going off all the headlamps

There were 7 all together. Too many crossed lines so we split up. 4 took the skeer and it was nowt but a few bites till they left last half 10 heading for the pub. That's when we moved out there. It's all good ground and never lost a rig for my last couple of outings in the same spot.

Never lost a rig and never caught owt either.
Might try my luck on Sugar Sands at the weekend. There's a muckle pig out there with my name on it.

A few of us fished the skeers at beadnell last night losing gear every cast. gave up after 1.5hrs and moved on to amble for low water ended up with a rockling and a small codling from the end of the pier.
